Forest Bathing in Gö – August 24 2022 Gravel Ride

It’s hot in Göttingen and rather than face 30 plus temperatures, we escaped the glare of the sun to venture into the shade and cooler climes of a German forest.

The forest being just a few minutes from our front door meaning it was a no brainer.

We also indulged ourselves by riding plenty of forest single track which at times was gnarly.

Bathing in a forest is a life plus thing. In addition, we were able to enjoy the ex-panzer Platz at Kesterlingrodefeld now open to us rather than Leopards alone. We also visited the highest point in Göttingen (427m) at Mackenroder Spitze where Andrea climbed the tower.

New Gö Strade Bianche 40km – August 21 2022 Gravel/Road Ride

This was a GPS setting ride and it has its own page.

Evening Tour in Gö – August 17 2022 Gravel/Road Ride

Cooler weather welcomed us on this evening ride with the intention of scouting gravel at Friedland.

Acting upon a tip by Josh we rode an extremely useful connecting gravel trail linking Friedland (south of Göttingen) to the gravel before Bisenhausen.

This will mean less asphalt road for the longer Gö Strade Bianche rides.

In Friedland which is famous for its refugee/transit camp museum there is nestled within the timbered buildings of the old village is the Michelin starred Biewald Restaurant. Associated with it is a Bistro that has a sign of welcome for cyclists (https://www.landhaus-biewald.de/).

We followed our noses, and all riding partners were kind to me because I´m still a little broken. Kuchen at Bisenhausen was yummilicious.

A Gentle Round to the Lake in Gö – August 12 2022 Road Ride

A gently paced tour taking in a visit to the lake ridden in the midday heat.

I am now on the mend and the call of the gravel grows, hopefully I will ride a revised 40km Gö Strade Bianche very soon.

Schloss Berlepsch Tour – August 7 2022 Road Ride

We enjoyed empty roads, smooth asphalt, and a blue sky which offered clear views across the Leine Valley toward the Harz Mountains, one of the best road routes in the Göttingen area.

The Berlepsch Castle is romantic and dare I say Disney like….

The smooth asphalt was especially welcomed by my damaged muscles.

Splish splash in Gö – August 3 2022 Road Ride

A hot day and tired legs, where else but a cool lake to make your destination as part of a soft pedal road ride.

Its harvest time and on route one farmer decided to use the main road without altering the width of his harvester, it was quite a sight as the boon hit every object adjacent to the road.  Despite this it all seemed to work.
