Many horses seemed to be laughing with us and not at us as we respectfully passed them by. It was a day for broad grins and smiles.

Helmfried and I met at the velodrome and then followed our noses, deciding which way to proceed by simply picking the coolest looking trail. It was tough at times and many of the long rough descents required very soft hands to keep control.

I especially loved the long section of Gutingi Strade Bianche and at one point made pinkish red with a brick mix.

We eventually rode through the Leine Valley and then climbed up onto the old Panzer base at Kesterlingroder Feld.
