We have suffered a long, long period of evil cold winds cutting you to the bone – today the sun shone, and the temperatures approached 30 degrees.
After a week off the bike because of fatigue triggered by the AZ Covid vaccine I received recently I was determined to venture out and I felt awful at the start, but I knew the roads to and from the Berlepsch Castle in Hesse were worth the effort and included three stretches of gravel. (the last time I rode there it was very cold and wet)
Our route took us along the Leine Valley into Hesse at Marzhausen where we began climbing via a super smooth public road and then a cycle signed lesser asphalt road through a forest taking us to the Berlepsch Castle where we picnicked. Next it was down a serpentine road before rising up to Mollenfeld and riding along a ridge on more smooth public roads. From Diederode we flew along a glorious descent into Göttingen.
44km and although the vaccine was hard on me, I remain happy to have had my first dose and I look forward to my second.
