August 2025 Rides

A page featuring galleries and links for cycle tours undertaken during August 2025.

I ride regularly, and I do not necessarily post a web page for each tour I do.

I do post to FacebookGarmin ConnectStrava and occasionally to Komoot and Instagram.

Monthly Tours

Riding for Cake and Ice Cream in Gö – August 31 2025

We tried new tracks and backtracked some all to salivate our great expectations of eating goodies.

A warm summer´s evening and we went riding on the west side on the high ground above Göttingen. We included the huge logistics centres on route and the prison.

Sadly, my camera stopped working…

Danke to Sandra and Andrea for the company.

Elbows in Gö – August 19 2025

An evening ride with the British legend Carl or better known as Elbows because riders feared trying to pass him and there are stories of much mischief especially with arch foes such as artist Grayson Perry.

Happily, no elbows were needed on this evening ride.

It was fun to see him and Elisa who earlier had a great time riding the roads of Gö, she being an ex-world tour pro rider and now a cyclo-crosser.

Gö Gravel the Thin Blue Line 2 – August 18 2025

The thin blue line on Komoot and red on Strava – the nord omloop.

I avoided riding when the temperature was in the mid-30´s because heat causes your blood vessels to dilate, your blood becomes thicker, blood pressure drops, and your heart must work very hard. My HR rises dramatically and although I like to exercise my muscles, I do not wish to strain them.

On this ride the warmth was good as we once again raised the dust.

Pre-ride and after I got to say hello to friends from the UK who are in the campervan park in Gö.

The Northern Omloop – https://veloklubhaus.com/go-north-feldweg-omloop-50km/

The 37th Gö Gravel informal Monday evening social tour featured Andre, Ann-Christin, Chris, Clemens, David, Def, Johannes S, Josh, Jurgen, Konstantin, Linda, Max H, Norman, Roman, Tim E, Tommi, and John.

Mehr Cake in Gö – August 17 2025

We rode for cake once again and we enjoyed it so much we are going to do it again next Samstag!

It was also very satisfying that a new tubeless tyre I fitted stayed firm, but it will take some time to get used to cornering on asphalt with a 45m front gravel tyre.

Danke Sandra and Andrea (the children of the corn).

Gö Gravel The Thin Blue Line – August 11 2025

The thin blue line on Komoot and red on Strava, we inhaled plumes of white Gö strade dust deep into the lungs better than nicotine.

The Northern Omloop – https://veloklubhaus.com/go-north-feldweg-omloop-50km/

The 36th Gö Gravel informal Monday evening social tour featured Alex R, Andrea, Ann-Christin, Bertha, Clemens, Chris, Christian, Daniel W, David, Dominic, Frej, Ingo, Jana, Josh, Justus, Konstantin, La, Max H, Norman, Paul G, Roman, Sebastian B, Sebastian Sc, Tatiana, Tilman, Tim E, and John.

White Socks Ride in Gö – August 10 2025

We wore the whitest of white Korea Randonneurs socks a super gift from Tom, Irene in the Netherlands and Bas in South Korea.

The trails were dusty, and I am glad to not relive the awful moment a thunderstorm hit the Arenberg Forest in Northern France and made my brand-new white socks (and shoes) filthy, ingrained with coal dust and mud from the old mining road.

Gö Gravel Ausfahrt – August 4 2025

It was dry, we surfed a few puddles, and no one drowned – A great change of circumstances!

We stopped to watch Tim and Josh on TV.

The 35th Gö Gravel informal Monday evening social tour featured Andrea, Ann-Christin, Constanza, Dennis, Frej, Ingo, Josh, Justus, Konstantin, Max H, Norman, Paul G, Paul H, Paulina, Sandra, Simon H, Tim E, and John.

Wet, Dry, Wet and Dry in Gö – August 1 2025

The rain was very localised and as soon as Tom (from the Netherlands) and I left the Garte Valley we rode into the Leine Valley where it was dry and sunny, but as we stood upon the high ground, we could see the weather front approaching bringing a heavy downpour.

There is something zen-like about riding in a monsoon.

We got wet and then soggy, almost dry when the sun shone.
