December 2021 Rides

A page featuring galleries and links for cycle tours undertaken during December 2021.

I ride regularly, and I do not necessarily post a web page for each tour I do.

I do post to Facebook, Garmin Connect, Strava and occasionally to Komoot and Instagram.

Monthly Tours

A West-Side End of Year Ride in Gö – December 29 2021 Gravel Ride

Lately it has been too cold to ride (minus 10) and Christmas is fun by a Tannenbaum.

The gravel is very wet caused by rain and the recent snow fall having now thawed.

Despite my English Mince Pie addled body I scouted an extended West-Side Loop (of Göttingen) adding 10.4 kilometres via Volkerode for a potential 100km Gö Strade Bianche.

Gö Strade Bianche 56.50km – December 18 2021 Gravel/Road Ride

We celebrate the Strade Bianche race featuring the ´Weißen Straßen´ of Göttingen plus concrete, dirt, tarmac cycle paths and public roads.

Gentle Misling Tour in Gö – December 15 2021 Gravel Ride

A gentle Misling accompanied us on this relaxed gravel ride and with the temperature approaching 8 degrees it felt almost balmy (recently it has fallen to minus 5).

Jane Austin coined the term Misling to express the type of light rain that lingers, and she like so many of the early English Georgian period felt dread at getting damp and succumbing to lung disorders such as Consumption.

Squealing disc brakes in Gö – December 12 2021 Gravel Ride

In rain and mud squealing disc brakes are better than the noise of grinding wheel rims!

Scouting a new Gö Strade Bianche finish.

Mud Dodging in Gö – December 5 2021 Farm Road Ride

The brief snowy landscape is no more, and we set out in the warmth (and sunshine) of a five degrees temperature for 42 kilometres of farm roads, a wee bit of gravel and anything that was as mud free as possible.

On this second of Advent, we met Josh Schenk and Roland on route, which was cool, but sadly the cold made lingering foolish.
