April 2024 Rides

A page featuring galleries and links for cycle tours undertaken during April 2024.

I ride regularly, and I do not necessarily post a web page for each tour I do.

I do post to Facebook, Garmin Connect, Strava and occasionally to Komoot and Instagram.

Monthly Tours

Viva Cycling in Gö – April 29 2024

The sun shone strongly, a gentle breeze swayed the trees, it was warm enough for shorts and the gravel roads of Gö are white (and red). Viva cycling!

Gö Urban Jungle Madness – Omloop – April 24 2024

In my defence and please note that the criminally insane cannot be held responsible for their actions – I am guilty as charged if you think this ride is absurd. Full info, fotos & GPS Here.

A Grim Reaper Scythe of a Wind in Gö – April 21 2024

Like the Grim Reaper´s scythe a cold wind sliced through us on this ride.

This heralds a return to winter here in Central Europe, although I can´t complain because parts of Southern Germany are experiencing 20cms of snow fall and we are not.

We kept it simple and Andrea being an experienced rider of Paris Roubaix cobbles said the stretch along Baurat Gerberstraße in Gö is almost comparable (not pictured).

Gö Urban Kopfsteinpflaster – April 17 2024

A scouting riding in Gö rattling my teeth on the Kopfsteinpflaster and there was the added pleasure of climbing the Mur de´ Kirschberge (23%) and the Zietenberg!

No Prisms Gö PRbx South Loop (Not Hell) – April 10 2024

I love cycle races steeped in atmosphere such as Paris Roubaix with its reputation for being the Hell of the North. I have become deeply inculcated in cycling folklore and in my head when I ride there is a soundtrack playing as if I were riding with the parcour lined with fans, banners and my ears echoing with the noise of the race.

I rode the south loop of a proposed informal Gö Gravel social ride on my 30mm slick tyred Specialized just for the fun of it and I added a few more asphalt Feldweg because my wheels were rolling so nicely. On Saturday for the social ride, I will be riding my gravel machine (safer & easier).

We have been tweaking the route a little and I checked it out. Many of the gravel sections pictured would be cobbled in Northern France.

I feel very grateful that after a few tough months I rode today without eye correcting prism glasses. Hooray! The prognosis suggested that it might take six months and if not fixed it would mean an operation.

Gö North Loop in Shorts! – April 7 2024

We checked out the north loop of a potential coming Gö Gravel informal social ride.

The weather was wonderful, good enough for shorts and it was a great change from surfing puddles and getting muddy on almost the same trails a few days ago.

Scouting Gö PRbx – April 4 2024

Thanks to a recent Komoot tutorial from the wonderful Victoria, I was able to quickly plot a north loop for a potential PRbx tribute ride, and I did not get lost for a change.

There are few stretches of cobbles in the area, but I substituted Feldweg, Betonweg and gravel instead.

On the ride it was a case of dodging the puddles. At first with the wind at my back I felt like a god only to come down to terra firma as I turned back into a mean headwind.

Next is to add a south loop.
